Genre

As I have chosen to create a documentary, I have researched some of the various types:

• Observational documentary - Attempts to simply observe a life with minimal intervention.
• Expository documentary - Speak directly to the audience proposing a strong argument/point of view.
• Participatory documentary - Believe that it is impossible for events not to be influenced by the fact that they are being filmed. The filmmaker is a part of the film and we get a sense of how situations in the film are altered or affected by their presence.
• Reflexive documentary - Draw attention to their own constructedness and the fact that they are representations.

I believe my documentary will be in the form of an observational documentary as I aim to give an insight into his life without causing any disruption.
